I own a 8600 GT and it works fine for all my games on high/ultra. Although for CE2 EU I'm probably gonna have to upgrade.

I have 8600gt on laptop and was able to play Crysis Warhead with pretty decent fps 30-40 on low-medium settings. Think Entropia(Cryengine version) would run ok, just not on high settings with DX10 rendering. Would probably have to stick to DX9 rendering low-med settings.

On my desktop I have an ATI card 4850, which is best bang for buck atm. Delivers high fps on high settings in any new game.

ooh thanks for the info mate!
It is nice to know my computer can handle all it needs to at a ok level without needing to be changed.
Then again, a busy Twin Peaks night could blow it all to smitherines.

Certain cards are built for certain things You wouldn't necessarily want to use a Quadro/FireGL card for PC gaming since they are built for 3d/Rendering etc. where as GeForce/Radeon cards are built for gaming.

The computer I just built for myself not too long ago has an Nvidia GTX 260 (Intel Quad Core build). My second pc has an Nvidia 9800GT (AMD Quad Core build) and my old pc has an Nvidia 8800GT (old XPS Gen 4) which replaced an ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition card that literally went poooof! I'd have to say I'm a fan of both Nvidia and ATI.

For my needs, Nvidia is the better choice since it is compatible with most of the programs that I use often (i.e. Maya/3ds Max etc.). However since I do game and use the same pc for work/play..I opted for a non-Quadro/FireGL card. Graphics on the latest cards are quite stunning though

I too favour Nvidia cards over ATI but from what i've read ATI generally gives you the best "Bang per Buck" at the moment.

That said, i'm very happy with my new laptop's Nvidia 9600GT that rarely drops below 60FPS in Entropia with high graphics and 2xAA @1366x768... Not sure what that will mean when EU goes CE2 but i'm hopeful I wont need to turn the effects down too much!

I upgraded my Dell late last year with an Nvidea 8800 GT card and it has worked very well with no problems.
I must admit being a bit of a tinkerer I had fun modding the PC to take it by installing a new power supply, modifying the generic harness and plug setup to fit my internal layout, cutting soldering etc

I also have an 8600 in my laptop which runs ok, EU on full settings works but is a little jittery.
Never heard too much bad stuff about ATI cards.
It's horses for courses really I guess.

I have an ATi 4870 1GB from Powercolor, works great, is quite overclockable and well yeah, I'm considering getting another to put them in Crossfire.
The companies are sort of going for different approaches, ATi is going cost efficient and only having a few extreme cards like the 4870X2, etc where as Nvidia are going for the high price range with the GT280, '85, '90, '95, etc, etc.

ATI is the best currently. It gives the best value for money and their cards are priced better even on the higher end. Better than Nvidia currently until Nvidia lower their prices. Check the GPU's out on www.tomshardware.com , they have great reviews for ATI.

Ati 4650

I just obtained a computer with an ATI 4650 graphics card. It seems great to be working great.
