Linux games

Wanted to try gaming on your linux installation but don't know what to play?
Here are some nice games for linux you could try out:

Scorched 3D
the old scorched earth goes 3d

World Of Padman
comic style game that uses quake 3 engine, quite fun!

Tremulous
First person shooter

Nexuiz
fps deathmatch game

Alien arena
turn based strategy game

FreeCiv
civilization clone

Battle For Wesnoth
turn based strategy game

I tried a couple of them myself, like scorched 3d (lol), world of padman (lol!!) wesnoth and freeciv. Anyone else has some tips for linux games?

Nice list.

Open Arena works too.

I've got Battle For Wesnoth installed on the Ubuntu partition of my hard drive. I recommend it.

Tremulous is also nice if you're into first person shooters. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars also works nicely.

Other games that I have played on Linux:

Eve Online
I've played it... it rocks!

Second Life
I've played it... it's... Second Life.

Also, Afterworld will have a Linux client eventually as it is built on the Torque engine and can be compiled rather easily for Mac and Linux... but they are still in Alpha testing so it may be awhile.

Thought I'd add another for the Flight Sim crowd. FlightGear - found at http://www.flightgear.org/ - works on a lot of different operating systems, and best of all is completely free!

The following is taken from the introdution page of the FlightGear site:

The FlightGear flight simulator project is an open-source, multi-platform, cooperative flight simulator development project. Source code for the entire project is available and licensed under the GNU General Public License.

The goal of the FlightGear project is to create a sophisticated flight simulator framework for use in research or academic environments, for the development and pursuit of other interesting flight simulation ideas, and as an end-user application. We are developing a sophisticated, open simulation framework that can be expanded and improved upon by anyone interested in contributing.

There are many exciting possibilities for an open, free flight sim. We hope that this project will be interesting and useful to many people in many areas.

Personally, I'm not a major fan of Flight Sims, but I think this would be of interest to those that are.

TORCS is fun, good racing game. I'm new to Linux and learning a lot, but not many games I have played on it.
