I played some AC too, but it felt like a Civ Light.. I missed the historic connection.

if you want some relatively good history, try out the Rhyes and fall mod for civ 4 beyound the sword.
also, rise of mankind mod is greatly more accurate then civ4 itself. and then theres many many more mods developed by the community.
www.civfanatics.com has most of them

I have tried some of the scenarios and mods that came with Beyond the Sword. Don't remember what they are called but some was very good.
When I look for real historic ones though I play the Paradox games. :-)

I loved all Civ releases and still play BtS from time to time.
BTW, Civ series aren't RTS but are turn-based strategies. Though we don't have a section for TBS, the whole genre is missed. 711 really should do something about it .

COL was pretty cool game out of that series. Was released during the 386 cpu era. The remake came out last year I believe. You get a very good feeling of the colonial times in America by playing this. You get to play with either the english, dutch, french or spanish.(I believe only the portugese are missing).
