Question: Has anyone here ever written a Facebook/Myspace game?

I've often been curious about these games. My background is more along the lines of firmware or OS level programming.

I suppose it also doesn't help that I've refused to get a FB or MS account.

Seriously, though, if anyone has experience with writing these apps, I'd appreciate some input as to the effort and cost involved, and revenue stream that they generate.

I have often thought about learning how to write the code so I could make one. Some of these people are making a killing off of some the games.

Indeed. I hear there's a podcast (could be a video podcast) and it's a 'class' on how to program for the Iphone. Should be free. As for Myspace/Facebook/social networking based apps, I have no clue. I'd love to know as well. It's amazing what programs seem to be popular/successful these days

Did a quick google on the topic as I'm very interested in game development and found a few references to various appllications/games but not really much on how to go about it. Subscribing. Very interested in seeing if anyone with experience responds. Nice idea for a thread rumsponge .

Subscribing as well. I'd love to know the answer. I do use fb quite a lot for odd games when i'm bored and only have a few minutes.

I would absolutely love to know how to make a facebook game. I'd be making games left and right. Wouldn't it be cool if there was an EU facebook game

I haven't done any FB development yet but have looked in to FB, Iphone and Xbox game programming.

To code for the IPhone the SDK will only install on a mac so this is out for me.

For Facebook most of the games are either in HTML/ASP or Flash with Action Script depending on the complexity of the game. It is then linked in to Facebook through the Facebook API.

I went for the option of coding the the Xbox using C# with the XNA framework which so far is quite easy to work with but does require a subscription to test games on the xbox or publish for the xbox.
