distinction between simulation games

would it make sense to distinct between construction games (i.e. sim city) / life-sim games (i.e. the sims) and vehicle-sims (i.e. MS flight Simulator)?

both are simulation game-genres, but they usually attract different kind of gamers, and the gameplay couldn't be more different too..

It's a good point, but are there more simulator games other than Flight Simulator and it's clones?

yes, there are simulators for all kind of vehicles:

flight-simulators
space-simulators
racing-simulators (goes into the racing-games section here at GHQ i guess)
tank-simulators
mecha-simulators
nautical-simulators (yachting, regatta sailing, transport ships, ..)
submarine-simulators (most of them too advanced to be called 'game')
train-simulators
truck-simulators
simulators for construction machines (excavators, forrest harvesters..)
schoolbus-simulators
garbage-collector-simulators
..
..

Guess I spend way too much time in EVE and EU.

I suppose you could call them "Simulators" versus "Sims"?

How about a simulation of someone playing a game on their computer? Check out World of World of Warcraft on YouTube (can't provide a link at work).
