I might be the only one, but I feel like the tags such as "LOL", "FYI", and all the others are unnecessary clutter.

Just my two units of currency such that 10 of them equal a US cent.

Doesn`t bother me much. Although "OMG, LOL" doesn`t have much of a use.

I see your point about how the thread prefixes (tags are something different) may give the wrong impression about the GamersHQ website and community.

I will probably remove those, thanks for the feedback.

Hehe, the use is to have 1/3 of the topics using a board function to achieve the same end as spamming "!*!*!*!", etc. at the beginning of every topic.
