non-combat flight simulators

ok, i hope this forum gets split into one simulation-forum, and one simulators-forum, as suggested in this thread: distinction between simulation games

anyway, what are your fav. non-combat flight simulators?

my #1: the original Flight Unlimited, it was soooo stunning when it came out, nothing came even close to the graphics and realism of flight-model.


other ones i like is Silent Wings, a gliding-plane simulator, but i understand this is a niche product for ppl having a real glider-pilot-license.
Condor is its direct competitor, but i have yet to try that out.

MS Flight Simulator has to be mentioned. it had a monopoly-like market-leadership for ages, and therefore is propably the best general aviation / non-combat-flight-simulator overall..

Yeah, I like Microsoft Flight Simulator 10. It is sooooo easy to get hooked on. Sometime ago, I began an around the world flight using a 747. Made it approx 5000 Km before crashing on a runway... Wasn't fair!

Anyways, there was another one, it was free and open-source. I can't remember its name, but it was available from www.sourceforge.net in the games section.

The idea of a non-combat flight sim sounds incredibly dull to me.

X-Plane has an incredibly detailed flight model as well and like FSX can be legally used for flight training.
