I've been a simcity fan for a long time, untill simcity societies came out.
Who else wishes a new simcity with more complexity and less 'simple easy (boooring) fun for all ages'?

Ah yes, simcity, I remember the old Simcity 2001 I think it was. Fun lil' game it is.

I had lots of fun with that game but have not seen any other version that spark my interest.

If anyone finds one, recommend it too me and I might have a look see.

Ze.

I liked SimCity 4. And if you have Sims installed on the same comp your little sims will move around in your SimCity. :-)

I played SC4 on and off since it was released. Still have my same custom region that i tend to destroy and rebuild from time to time. I never liked the look of SC Societies. It just look like they was moving away from the original concept too much. So yes im hoping one day Maxis release Sim City 5 !!

In general I'm not a fan of RTS games - but Classic Sim City was fun. Still remember the Godzilla like thing tearing down my uber metropolis. That was before I learned how to disable disasters.

I grew up with SimCity 2000. It was on the PCs in the science labs in high school and it eventually found its way onto my home machine. I even remember SCURK...the Urban Renewal Kit which allowed you to modify the graphics and make your own buildings....

Don't think I ever played 3000, but a few months ago, I got this craving to play some SimCity, so I ventured to Walmart and picked up SimCity4. Best $20 I've spent in a long time. I've even got other friends re-hooked and they yell at me because their wives/girlfriends are yelling at them to get off the computer!

Haven't played Societies and from the looks of it, I'm not sure if I want to. As stated above, it seems kinda simplistic....give me access to all the controls...I want to be able to tax my sims and forget to zone for a landfill and not upgrade roads so they get in accidents all day long. I want the local hospitals to go on strike so i can demolish the hospital and rebuild on the other side of town! So much fun.....

I'm a big fan of the simcity series too from the very first version. And yes, the Societies is a completely different game, it's not an economic simulator anymore . I also tried such games as City Life and New York Tycoon City and seem that the whole genre is spoiled with this new concept of "no need to think, just sit and watch". I wait for Cities XL which is going to be released this year but I suspect it will suffer from the same problem (it is from the developers of City Life after all).

Thanks for pointing me to that Cities XL game, it looks interesting .
Also I noticed this game, wich should be a good simcity clone: LinCity (didn't try it yet).
