Demigod -DoTA in new form?

A new RTSgame called Demigod is supposed to be released sometime this spring/summer. From what Ive read it will be remarkably like DoTA or Bleach Wars... except in Demigod you only have 6 heroes to choose from

Some info there from a reporter beta-tester in Norwegian:
http://www.dagbladet.no/2009/03/05/k...migod/5151758/

In short he's saying it will be:
* Two main types of gods, assasin and general, who you will level up and get different attributes for as they rise in levels.
* Uncontrollable armies that's being sent out in "waves"
* Each sides will have forts and towers, so your god will have to help the armies pull through.
* If you die, your hero will become a spirit who wont be avalible for battle until a certain time has passed.
* multiplayer is central
* world wide tournaments

Sounds pretty much like DoTA to me!
Either way, it looks quite kickass!

Check out the page and the trailer: http://www.demigodthegame.com/

I've preordered a copy

It just came out today for those who had preordered.

I gotta say its much like DoTA and Bleach Wars, and once you understand the system in demigod its like learning to ride a bike again if you've played either of them.

Im not overly impressed by the game. Its entertaining, sure. But its missing something.

There's no campaign. There's no tutorial even. There's nothing else to it then DoTA in a new form. And there really isnt that many options either (although I hear that will come in later patches) when it comes to items, upgrades and skills.

For those of you who like DoTA, Bleach Wars or just RTS with friends in general it might be worth it. But if you're not in particularly fascinated by such then steer clear, there's nothing more to it then just that.

Ill write a more extensive review later

I agree having had similar thoughts. I played a few of the characters but once I'd figured them out it got a bit samey. Might be good to pull it out for a couple of games at a LAN party and probably has appeal to hardcore don't care what the game is just wanna beat everyone kinda game thinking (the thunderous and dramatic announcements of what was happening were imo the best part of the game ) but I don't think it by any means innovative or new. Disappointing, the previews seemed promising.
