What pen&paper RPG´s have you played, and do you still play them?
|
|
Ok, i personally dont play anymore, but i would and liked if i would have a good crew to do so.
Peeps nowadays with their WoW´s & EU´s, you know how it is...
But i used to have a likeminded crew and we played alot of these:
RuneQuest actually most, as the rules (bit like AD&D) and accessories needed were not too overwhelming, and bending them a bit to fit the current player setup was easy...and it was alltogether really good game!
Got few extensions on that also...
Then another was Laserburn, which was actually intended to play with miniatyres, but we revamped it a little-bit to make it normal pen&paper, into which it effortlessly converted into...
This game was developed by Bryan Ansell, and i heard this game was an pre-stage for Warhammer 40k. You can still get this game btw from www.15mm.co.uk
A bit more specific on the battle rules, involved using alot of tables and such, making it more of an effort to organize a large battle, but still a nice game too...
http://www.15mm.co.uk/LBR01_Laserburn.htm
Then i have to mention one game that we played when i was alot younger ( Cyberpunk2020), i did not own this game, but my neighbor did, and i remeber playing it, and not hating it...maybe someone else has more experience on this, as my memories are quite vaguen on this one...
I would be surprised if someone else here has actually played these games, but hey, still dont hurt askin´

In the 80's I played basicly any RPG available in the store, at gaming conventions and with friends. D&D, AD&D, Call of Cthulhu, Paranoida, Traveller, Traveller 2300, Star Wars, Chill, Runequest, Middle Earth etc etc
But it was the Swedish ones that I played the most:
Drakar och Demoner (Expert), Mutant, Chock, Sagan om Ringen, Kult, Neotech and more.
Nowadays we play a modified version of Drakar och Demoner Expert, but only a few times a year.

Oh, they have made a Discworld RP? Cool, i have always loved Discworld books(especially the ones involving Night Watch), never played any games involving that....hmm...hold on...maybe some adventure game on PC sometime far far in the history, could be wrong though....
The whole Vampire thing is almost uncharted territory to me, there are loads of games in that genre. I own one board-/cardgame Vampire -The"something", but it somehow just stays dusting in the attic...

Never played a pen and paper RPG, the closest I came was playing The Bards Tale on the Spectrum and Eye of the Beholder on the Amiga.

Back in the 80's i played D&D, AD&D, Traveller, Marvel Super Heroes, Warhammer40k and Call of Cthulu.
Don't play now, if we didn't have fantastic virtual worlds on PC, i certainly still would play.
