Wii game suggestions for a 9 year old
|
|
My son is nine and heavily saving up for the wii (he'll have it soon) and I am wondering on what games to buy him and what accessories I will need.
He loves Pokemon and Mario cart so that's a given I guess, but anything else that's fun and suitable for his age?
We always look around when in stores but the variety of games is pathetic

Um, if he ever wants to play with friends + family, you'll need a second wiimote and a nunchuck.
Madworld is a no go for a 9 year old.
Metroid Prime 3 might feel a little slow paced to him..but, i dunno you could give it a shot. I loved Metroid Prime when i was 10, but i loved Metroid.
Punch Out Wii's coming out, and that looks to be great fun. Super punch out was very fun, and this one looks to be shaping up great.
Mario Galaxy is a great game, not really multiplayer friendly, but its a great solo adventure.
Super Smash Brothers Brawl is another amazingly awesome game. He's a kid - he's gonna love the chaotic brawls of this game, for sure.
Excite Truck is pretty fun as a racing game.
If you buy him a wii points card and download games of the shopping channel, there's an abundance of fun games.
Other than that, its all crap, at least for a 9 year old.

Excite Truck got labeled as one of the worst racing games ever and I can see why. Extremely broken gameplay and buggy.
For a 9year old kid I got 3 suggestions
1. Super Mario Galaxy
2. Mario Kart
3. Megaman 9 on Virtual Console
Sorry, but these are the only titles on Wii worth its money on Wii...except Mad World...holy fuck its fun but not for a 9 year old
Super Smash Brawl is great fun for multiple also. But thats about it

My 10 year old says.......
Super smash brothers brawl
Super mario galaxy
Raving Rabbids 2
Kung fu panda
Mario party
Mario cart
Sonic unleashed
extra wii remotes and nunchucks get as many as you have people in your family
lots of duracell AA batteries
I personally LOVE wii sports - even the golf i can do, bowling is ACE!
and also Wii fit..... you need the balance board for this. Don't use it when drinking
My eldest loves guitar hero - you need to buy the guitar thing for this, and put up with badly played songs too!

Hi Stinky
I will swear ill graduate from your discipleship at some point, but i got maths GCSE's
coming up.
On topic: Suu, a slight tip.
I cycle 16 recycleable batteries, primarily for the wiimotes. It's a lot more cost effective in the long run. Maybe 16's a bit OTT, but i like to be prepared.

LOL, nothing against raaawk, as you put it, but I bet it will conflict with the music I have in the living room, I don't like these sort of mashups, lol
On the battery thing: we got too much crap around already that needs batteries so I am on the safe side there, but thanks for the tip

All of the mario-games are suitable.
To mention some that havent yet been mentioned here:
If you want to play with your son I suggest Mario Party 8. Its like a board game with lots of mini games, and you can have a rest now and then when you feel like it 1-4 people can play.
Ive played it with my friends, and also with a 3 year old that greatly enjoyed it
Super Paper Mario should also be something to concider!
