Virgin Media has a 50Mb service (not sure if it is live yet, but certainly imminent if not).

Typical new packages which use the British Telecom (BT) lines, with speeds of upto 8Mb although in some cases this is a bit ambitious.

A few other services offer more but 8Mb is fairly standard atm.

Personally I'm on an old package running at 2Mb on Virgin, supposedly this will get a free upgrade to 10Mb shortly.

BeThere.co.uk offer up to 24mb, they don't have a contract, instead you need to give 3 months notice of leaving.

Oh forgot to say, they use the BT lines.

Of course the fastest speed you can get with them is dependent on where you live

I think they told me that the fastest possible where I am would be 17 meg.

I must admit though, I was quite surprised when they said that they covered where I live, since no-one else does
