Cannot get Cable, they are not on my estate yet and have no plans (read-money left) to come into our estate of maybe 5k houses..... even though the trench carrying the cable for the other side of town goes literally across my drive......

So, i go with a company called Eclipse.
They have been fantastic over the last 6 years.
Only gripe is that they used to tell you your contention ratios etc. now they talk about service in terms of levels, i.e. gold, silver....... load of bloody waffle.

Been thinking about changing, as we now have between 3 and 5 pc's online in our house in the evenings... need more bandwidth!.... will watch this thread.

I'm with Virgin Media, they are terrible.

Before they rebranded I was with NTL(signed up for a dial up account and they upgraded it to 2Mb BB automatically over the years without changing the contract), they used to provide an excellect service. Since they have became Virgin Media though things have become progressively worse.

Technical Support is useless now, the downtimes have increased (and without notice ntl used to notify me of any scheduled downtimes). They have just upgraded my account from 2Mb to 10Mb.
Which might seem like a good deal but they have implemented a fair us policy which means that my speed can be throttled (not that my line can actually recive anything near the 10Mb without an upgrade). To top it off they changed to the 10Mb without the bill payers (my) concent, so apparently my bill will increase as well.

Seriously thinking about switching to BT, i've Virgin don't shape up

In Australia, stay away from Telstra, especially their Bigpond NextG Wireless service and anything with the Dodo name attached to it.

Telstra have poor customer service (in my experience)

Bigpond NextG Wireless has the effect of dropping people out, which makes it unsuitable for gaming, sadly they go out of their way to sell it to you and will rarely, if ever take your phone line off a Pair Gain system to sell you regular ADSL, which is less than half the price, in most cases.

Dodo, well they have all sorts of hidden fees and charges that add up

Telstra is a rip-off king althought at least they don't have ADSL drop-outs like some friends on TPG have, etc.

I'd still prefer the rare drop-out than not being able to download more than 12GB per month.
