MMO where you build stuff yourself.

Argh! hate it when this happens. i used to play an MMO where you, and many others where able to create your own, well, everything.
basicly, you start out in a world where nothing has happened yet. you have some basic tools avaible (shovel, axe, etc.) and either alone (takes a long time) or with many others you are able to create an open place in a forest using your axe, level the place using your shovel, put fences around it to prevent others from entering, build houses, dig mines, create carts etc. to transport goods, build farms to make food, and so on.
however, i can't remember the damn name! anyone who knows it here>?

Seems interesting and i might try it out later. Graphics appear to be similar to those of runescape but we'll see.

well, its an openGL flash game without a huge company behind it...so yeah, it might not look pretty, but the concept is fun.
if you get in, use /tell Magnit (that would be me) to tell you're there and ill help you out a bit (altho im back to the start that i had 2 years ago)

Wasn't the original concept of Second Life like this? Also you might enjoy Cities XL when it launches.

Quote:
A Tale in the Desert is rare among MMORPGs in that it lacks combat. Instead, a variety of social activities provide for the basis of most interaction in the game. Soloing players may choose to focus on a wide range of options, both personal and regional; however, most players choose a more social outlook, and participate in politics, research, and social advancement. To support this, the game's main focuses are building, community, research, and personal or group challenges, called "Tests".
ATitD also has a unique outlook in that the game itself has a global foregame, midgame, and endgame: on average so far, every year and a half the game ends, achievements are tabulated, and a new "Telling" begins, with certain modifications requested by the player base. Within a Telling, players can write, introduce, and pass laws (including player bans), and make feature requests. Compared to other online games, many have noted a closer to equal ratio of male to female players, and a high level of civility and generosity, potentially as a result of the difference in focus.

I've played both of those before. Wurm was good fun but quite harwork to start. you start with nothing but tools and have to build your own house to keep everything you can't carry safe from thieves so you need about 4-5 hours to play solid once your inventory gets too full to store it elsewhere.
A tale in the desert is better but you get the game effectively cleaned every year and a bit so you have to start again which is a littel frustrating and it has a very steep requirement level for some of the challenges in the game.
