Warhammer Online?

Is it any good? I currently play Guild Wars and Entropia. I'm looking to start playing another fantasy MMO that's not level-capped like GW (I love it, but sometimes you just wanna be uber).

I know next to nothing about WarhammerOnline, but I did love the table-top games when I was younger.

Is it worth checking out? Should I be looking elsewhere in the genre (and please don't say WoW )

I had an account on Warhammer for a couple of months where I was playing pretty steadily and it was pretty good fun. There were some features that i liked such as the salvaging of broken items which allowed you to gain ingredients for enchanting. As with WoW you can only have a couple of secondary skills so this encouraged trading and co-operation amongst players. There is also large scale co-op battles where you get to use siege weapons and the like to take on castles as part of the ongoing battle between the 2 forces that the story line is set against.
There is quite a good flowing storyline in each area and plenty of quests to do along the way to gain special armour and weapons. The total play area is absolutely huge. I have let the game slide off my radar for now I must admit but it has many interesting areas of gameplay that other MMO's could look at, certainly the siege battles are something that can keep your guild busy and entertained.

Some more things i didn't mention, not only are there set piece siege battles where you need to co-operate to take castles, there are also set battles at the end of each Chapter area which constantly respawn as they are attempted or copleted by groups. These usually need a party to complete as they are sometimes time driven, so one person alone would usually run out of time before killing enough characters or gaining access to the correct place.
The Book where all your achievements are logged gives a full history of your game, and lists all of your titles, both serious and fun. For example if you win a few battles with under 5% of your health remaining you can gain the title of Tooth Skinner that you can choose to display above your name. There are a large number of things such as this which add a little bit if fun and interest to the game.
Each outcome in the set piece battles causes the balance of power in that region to shift one way or the other from good to evil. This has an effect on skill bonuses and also on what quests are available in the Major city of your chosen faction.

I played Warhammer with my guild for about a month before uninstalling it along with most of the rest of my guild. It was cool at first, but it ended up being more of a pvp grind than a pve grind like most others in the genre. Although there are several pvp maps per level range, usually only one or two of them are played. Think of playing the same pvp map from lvls 22-31, and then another from 32-41. It gets dull quickly. Eventually you can do keep battles which are pretty cool, provided that there are enough people to fight.

All in all, great concept, decent gameplay, but poor retention due to the grind. Also, I'm sure their population has fallen quite a bit since going live, so there may be less ppl to fight against now then there were at go-live.

Hmmm, ok, it looks like it's probably not what I'm looking for .

Any other suggestions? Generally I prefer PVE to PVP, and I don't like being forced to party. Mostly I like going solo, but would like the option of teaming when I want it.
