Question: Making Money playing Online games

The only people I have seen make a good amount of money from games, besides Second Life or Entropia Universe, are the serious gold farmers. I have several friends who make several hundred dollars a month selling gold. You just have to be really sneaky about how you do it because it is so easy to get banned in most games.

Personally I have only ever made money playing GuildWars, and I have never sold gold. They used to have a couple tournaments for money and my team won the first ever 5k at Gencon 2005. Also they have online tournaments that are constantly going on in their pvp section of the game. 1v1 and Guild tournaments that are for monthly prizes. If you practiced a lot I am sure you could make money off of it.

If you do find a way to make money gaming I would ove to hear about it.

Pvp isn't exactly my strong point unfortunately. Something I've never really got the hang of. Sounds like it would require me getting in with a good guild as well if I wanted to stand any chance of getting money legaly and as I said not being that great at pvp I would probably not be wanted for any of the really good guilds. Thanks for the suggestion though. Its not something I would have ever stumbled across by myself.

An update on the entropia side of things I'm almost ready to try out Vu10. I've finally downloaded the new client just have to download the patches and then hope my computer works. If it does I can get back to trading in there. I'm also going to offer a fappign service as well soon. I enjoy playing healer classes in other rpg's so hopefully I will be good at it.

What is that game you are refering to?

At the moment I'm trying one of the free to play games supported by the livegamer site to see how easy it is to make the cash they are selling on site. At least until I can get entropia going again then I will probably divide my time a bit.

I was refering to gopets. I tried it for about two to three days and then gave up. Its free to play is incredibly limited makign it very difficult to farm gold shells (the in game currency) so i chucked it in early. It took me about 3 hours to make the equivalent of about 200 gold shells at best and 45000 seem to sell for less than $20 so that would be about 675 hours for at best $20. If it had looked likely I would be able to make shells quicker if I had premium time I might have tried it but it didn't and the game was very poorly supported. I couldn't find answers to half of the questions I had.

so far Entropia is more profitable and more fun but I will keep searching.

I've finally got back into Entropia on the update front but trading is a bit interesting with so many prices out of wack. I'm going to have to be careful not to make a loss over the next few weeks I think.

What kind of games do your friends sell gold in? That seems like a lot of money for gold farming, unless they play a whole bunch...



@Marie - Why don't you try the everquest II trial? I'm sure it would be a lot more fun than gopets , and you could see how hard it would be to earn some money. I believe there's even a "lootrun" guide online to guide you through the named mobs, which I think are the ones that give the best loot.

I will do but I will have to wait three weeks to download it. I get a limited amount of download per month and well Entropia was huge so I need to space it out a bit. It is what I intend to try next and I've looked at the website but yeah just got to wait till I have the download capacity.
