Sounds like a white box built by a local company. If you void the warranty by opening it, its because they want to scam more money out of you. $10 isn't bad to clean out the PC, IF they do it right...takes more than just a few blasts of canned air.

Also, if it takes them a few days and they have to send it out somewhere just to replace the video card, then they're not a very good company. If its a local builder, they should have stock onsite.

Next time, buy a PC from a major manufacturer. You can open and close it and clean it to your hearts content and not have to worry about the warranty.

Get the box back. Take off the sticker. And do this - be sure to watch the last 30 seconds.

Yeah strange ...you should be able to clean up your comp yourself without voiding the warranty...oh well...

one tip though...if you can, get a pc rack that keeps your comp off the ground, it significantly reduces the dusting inside...

Drove to the nearest warranty repair centre and when they opened it I was told that the video card was fried. The whole case was full with a lot of dust. I couldn't even see where the ram or hard was because of it. Apparantly the fan that cools the video card was jammed with dust and stuff and it stopped working. It didn't take long for the card to overheat. :/
I am faced with a dilema. The pc case must be cleaned from dust thorougly but in order to do that I must open it up but I can't cuz of the warranty sticker :/
So I asked the repair guys how the hell can I stop my video card or other stuff from getting fried if I can't clean them inside ?
They were like: -Uhh... If you wish to order a PC clean you must pay $10 and come next week.
They told me to come after 2 weeks and ask If my PC has been repaired and if it has then I must wait another few days for it to arrive to their office and then come and get it
This long post proves that customer support sucks
PS I am not stuck on my older PC which has 256 ram and 64 mb video card
It takes me 10 mins to reboot it lol
if i were you i would just open it up cleaning helps a lot! and if something breaks there are always many parts to come by..

Why not pay $10 to get them to clean it, then tape up all the holes to stop more dust getting in!

Next time you take it back because it's not working they won't be able to say it's the dust so will have to fix it properly! Of course you'll have removed any signs of the tape blocking the vents before you take it back

That is the reason why buying a branded PC is pain in the ass.
