Why do you play MMO's?

Before the Entropia Universe, I never played a MMORPG and had no intention of doing so. When I saw the news headlines from the sale of CND, i checked out the Entropia Universe.

That was 3.5 years ago

I tried quitting for a year... mainly because IRL issues forced me out of the game. The "bug" never went away though and I came back.

Now its safe to say that I am addicted again. The RCE keeps things interesting

Another thing...

While in the EU it is pretty easy to forget about all of the IRL crap and focus on something that can be fun.

I like to hunt, mine, trade, and stuff but what I really like to do is spend time build our group of societies. Society development can add a whole new meaning to the EU.

Because I am a sad, sad person.

Ok, seriously, the ability to play with/against other people adds a whole new dimension to gameplay. I always enjoyed PC games, but playing online is much more interesting and challenging.

And the great thing about online friends is that, when you're tired of their crap, you can just log off and go do something else.

With Entropia Universe it's definitely the RCE that keeps things interesting for me at the moment cry2 might change this and add more spice to the game with new planets etc, but everyone likes the idea of hitting the jackpot and bagging a decent item well there is always the possibility, now take away the RCE and EU would quickly get boring.

I think I like the levelling up factor. Whether you are an an Ibis starter noob ship in Eve with 1000 credits to your name, or an 88 hp person in Entropia, every day you play you are just that bit better than you were the day before. Also it is a lot more social than single player games and apart from some of the MMO's that sadly fail, you exist in a persistant virtual universe.

Agree.....IRL aint always sunny...

And i agree indeed that being part of a society is big fun....

I mainly like the hunting part
and the entertainment part....

I'm to social to lock myself up in a dome and see no one all day...

For me it's the fact that I can achieve something that is, to an extent, lasting and tangible. When playing single-player rpg's and the like, once you clock the game, it's over and you have nothing really to show for it.

With MMO's, you character grows and develops over time, it's there when u want it, you can leave it when you don't, and it will still be there when you come back. I hardly play any single-player stuff anymore.
