If you live in the United States. then I Have the perfect soultion for you. I was in the same debate for you. I did a little research on the internet whether to build my own computer or to just buy one. I foudn a awesome website where you can buy a complete computer with all of the specs that you want on it. Such as you can customize the processor, mother board, sound card, video card, ram computer case, ect... with out having to hastle with all of the building the computer and having to worry about wiring the system wrong or messing up the cpu. They offer great prices on all of the equipment. The link is http://cyberpowerpc.com. I really hope this helps it sure helped me and i love my desktop. Fast reliable and looks great.!

Building your own computer is fun, and you'll know your system very well. You can make is precisely as you want it to be without paying for stuff you don't need, wich is often the case in pre-built systems.
If you enjoy technology and not scared for doing a bit of work for your new comp, I'd recommend to go for it and build your own. If you just want to game, I'm sure you can find a nice prebuild system .

I usually buy a new system from Dell and then add/tweak it.

My current system is a Dell E530. I have my nephew the ATI card that came with the box and installed a 9500GT instead.

Sometimes I'll update the stock PSU as well but everything I read said this Dell could handle the updated video card without issue.

Nothing wrong with buying a complete rig, but I would probably build my own since its fun and I get the parts that I want. Not sure there's much money to be saved though when building it yourself, except maybe for the Windows license that you usually already have.

I also like to make my computers silent and without annoying fluff... Most pre-made gaming rigs are full of flashing blue lights and crap.

I worked at a computer recycling center for over a year the number of Dell's, IBM and Compaqs we got that were bad really out numbered the number of bad self built systems that had failed.

The problem with the pre-made systems is the companies cut as many corners as possible making there systems poorly so they will fail in several years so you have to buy a new one from them.
