Major MMO Publishers Sued For Patent Infringement

GameboyRMH writes "The Boston Globe reports that major MMO publishers (Blizzard, Turbine, SOE, NCSoft, and Jagex) are being sued by Paltalk, which holds a patent on 'sharing data among many connected computers so that all users see the same digital environment' - a patent that would seem to apply to any multiplayer game played between multiple systems, at the very least. Paltalk has already received an out-of-court settlement from Microsoft earlier this year in relation to a lawsuit over the Halo games. If Microsoft can't fend off Paltalk's legal attacks, the odds don't look good for their latest group of targets."

I am going to sue you. I have patented the use of "BRB" and also "sue".
I also have the patent on "suing a company/individual on the basis of a patent", a paradox. Now will the make me sue myself? Ahh.... The world is going to end and I am going to take a nap now until then  |

But since Marie has patented the patent she is going to sue me, and of course you too for using it. But I have patented the art of suing, so I can sue Marie for suing you and me, but since I have patented it Marie can sue me too. Oh sorry, looks like I've already patented naps.
It's what I do, I take mundane things and patent them. Beds, chairs, sofas, dinner time, breakfast, lunch, cooking, cleaning, sleeping and most of all, napping. |

Then you have to be eliminated, patenting beer is very dangerous to humanity as a whole.
On a serious note I wonder how much innovation is affected by companies patenting almost everything. Patents were meant to encourage innovations but sadly they are being used for nefarious use by the evil corps. |
