rss Dragon's Dogma delayed to May, includes Resident Evil 6 demo

Capcom's action game moved to May 22 in NA, May 25 in Europe; copies include code to download RE6 demo on XBL July 3 and PSN beginning September 4.

Capcom is taking longer than expected to define Dragon's Dogma. The publisher today announced that the action game has been bumped to May 22 in North America, with a European release to follow on May 25. Dragon's Dogma won't be unleashed until May.

Previously, Dragon's Dogma was slated to arrive in early 2012. On top of announcing the game's new release date, the Osaka-based publisher noted that Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 copies of the game will include a onetime-use code to download a demo for the just-announced Resident Evil 6.

Xbox Live users will have a 60-day head start on their PSN counterparts for access to the trial. The Resident Evil 6 demo lands on Xbox Live globally on July 3, with a PSN version following on September 4 in North America, and September 5 in Europe. Resident Evil 6 is due in full on November 20.

When the game does ship, players can expect postlaunch support from Capcom. The publisher said it plans to support the title with a "comprehensive suite" of downloadable content in the form of additional quests, as well as weapon and armor upgrades.

Capcom also revealed today that Japanese rock band B'z will write and record an original tune for use in Dragon's Dogma.

Dragon's Dogma is an all-new franchise from Capcom. An open-world action combat game, the title has players fighting a whole assortment of mythological creatures, including goblins, griffins, and hydras. Players will lead a party of three fighters and will control their primary character while their companions engage in independent action.
