rss Alan Wake shines on PC in February

Remedy's action adventure game arrives via Steam next month; Games for Windows Live will not be used.

When Alan Wake was first announced in 2005, it was expected to make its debut on both the Xbox 360 and PC. However, plans for a PC version were later quashed, and the game was released in 2010 only on the Xbox 360. Last month, developer Remedy announced it was bringing the game to the PC in early 2012, but now, the game has a more specific release window: February. Alan Wake scares the PC crowd next month.

Writing on the official Alan Wake forums, Remedy's community manager Peter Papadopoulos also shed further light on the game, saying it is coming to the PC via Steam and that it will not use Games for Windows Live. A price for Alan Wake for the PC has not been announced.

According to Papadopoulos, a "small" team of Remedy employees developed Alan Wake for the PC and were assisted by Nitro Games, the Finnish development shop behind PC games Pirates of the Black Cove, Command: Conquest of the Americas, and Woody Two-Legs: Attack of the Zombie Pirates.

The PC release of Alan Wake will include the game's two downloadable content packs: The Signal and The Writer. The PC port won't be the only Alan Wake game out in February. Today, Microsoft announced that Alan Wake's American Nightmare will arrive for the Xbox 360 on February 22.
