Thumbs up The first massive online social strategy game

I don't really like online browser games. I mean what's the point for example to build an empire when next month the game will be reset and you have to start over again. This game is something different. It's called Erepublik.
When you look at it it's nothing special. No pictures of any sort and you need just minutes a day to play it- press two buttons and you are done.
But there is more to it and 100 k people playing it everyday are the proof.
So what's that that makes so many people play it ?
You start as a citizen in your favourite country and region. The two main actions that you can do are work (first you have to find job) and train. You can work and train only once every day. You will need also to buy some bread in order too improve your health. The number of stars next to a product represent their quality.
It is good to see how citizens of a country in real life work together online for the glory of their own country. You can start a newspaper and write about everything you want. If for example you are a warrior type you can start out as a soldier in your country's army. It was just awesome to see when in the last great battle between Romania and Indonesia 10 000 people from around the world logged in so they could fight- some to preserve the peace others to conquer and pillage.
If you are into politics you can start your own party and become a congressman. Then you would be able to propose and vote for/against laws, change the taxes/vat of certain products and create alliances/declare wars.
You could also become a trader, create your own company and for example supply your country's troops with food and weapons.
Or you could do a little of everything. Sky is the limit

PS If you would like to help me in the game pm here so I can invite you and get some gold
Cheers

I started to play this game, but forgot to log in for a week and my citizen died. I didn't resurrect him because I didn't want a pet cemetary situation where I wake up one night with my erepublik citizen standing in my room. Maybe I'll start a new one though since it was pretty cool.

Haha I was just gonna post about this game and then I found this thread.

It does seem intriguing but so far I am still in the 'click 2 buttons' phase of noobie play which isn't very exciting. I suppose I could pay the 10E to unlock all features and do some more but I think I'm going to just keep grinding it out for at least a few more levels.
