Help: Text-Based Browser Game

I have wanted to start my own text-based game for a while now but the people i have asked about it so far have not been overly helpfull. I have the basic mccodes v2 but thats about it. Iv been told i need to sort out a MySQL database and i need to know how to actually install the codes and such into a website. Anything that anyone can tell me about it would be great.

Im just looking to make a small game that a few friends could play. I dont know any form of coding but iv managed to change very small bits of text in the mccodes to change the theme/story of the game to what i want so i think the .php files i have are pretty much set to go.

Im not expecting an entire walkthrough but if someone can tell me bits and pieces that i will need to know or if anyone wants to share their experiences with this kind of thing then please do. 1eye:

I will be offering GamersHQ members a chance to get in on the beta testing of the new game (sci-fi themed) in a couple weeks.

My advice to you is to avoid mccodes at all costs. It is highly insecure, and very unoptimized.

PM me, and I can offer you some suggestions on a much better platform (I'd rather not mention it here, lest I risk enlightening the competitiors ).

Someone made a web-based version of that Text only game that's within Fallout 3, Can't think of the name of it though

Just an update..

Iv got myself a small game up now. Still basic mccodes but its playable :P

Trying to dig up some extra bits for it and il post here when you guys can have a lil look if interested

What i have at the moment is not at all original but over time it should become more unique. Im glad iv broken away from the heaps of crime based text games. At least the background story to the game is a bit different with mine

At the moment i am looking for suggestions for town and city names for my game. I am putting together a map which will simply show where different areas are in my game world and will aid the story background in some ways.

For now the only 2 cities and towns are Lisbry and Veilbridge. Everyone, please feed me your ideas xD

I've always liked Havilah as a town name. I can't remember when i first thought of it but i often use it to name my towns in internet browser games. Feel free to use it.
