The REAL Advantage of playing board games on Wii or PC is that you dont have to spend the time setting up the board and when your done you have not clean up either.
He's right y'know! :wise:

Also , who plays any board games these days?!? It was great to play trivial pursuit as a family. And Marioparty we love that too!

I think the emphasis on the games and maybe the Wii in general is to bring people together in a way that the old board games used to.

And there's nothing bad about that in my opinion.

I have nothing against wii and board games going "online" or virtual, but i am sure there is room & users for normal traditional boardgames also, its still a 100% different feel when peeps round up at the table and start playing...yes i know i am old fashioned and stuck to the 80´s.

The down side with the real board games is that the pieces get lost a lot. and if you are playing while you drink beer or another alcoholic beverage you have the risk of spilling and ruining the game. I kinda made a very nasty damage on a friends risk board, Alberta, Ontario and West USA will never be the same . she wasn´t happy at all

with the wii board games you don´t have this problem

I know a lot of people who "still" play board games. We have a huge convention here every year where new games are presented and lots of new and old games are shown including people who help and give hints and instructions.
That's always a big hit, plus you tend to get tiny add ons that are not available in shops just yet.

Don't think board games will ever fade into not being played and getting dusty.

I agree and some are just classic. I remember playing candyland when I was very young with my cousins. In later years playing it with my kids, nieces and nephews and they had just as much fun as I remember having.

My kids are into Snakes & Ladders and the child's version of Monopoly at the moment. I also play Talisman and Memoir 44 on the odd occasion with friends.

lol

Im only 19 so in theory I should enjoy more the new games, and all those outstanding graphics... but I love the classics, board games, cartoons, games..

Although its really cool not having the trouble to set up the board and pieces, neither having to clean up the table, nothing beats the feeling of actually playing a board game.

Even the troubles of dropping water (or any other drink), are part of the fun. hehe
