Now that GamersHQ.com has been launched, and most of the few remaining bugs eradicated and tweaks performed, I am turning my focus to site promotion.

The marketing campaign for GHQ is just beginning today, with some Google AdWords placements on very popular gaming sites such as gamefaqs.com, ign.com, gamesradar.com, filefront.com, as well as on some well-targeted medium sized computer gaming and related sites. I have also created some keyword campaigns that display when people search for certain terms on Google (i.e. mmorpg games, game forums, gamers community, etc.).


Also, a medium-sized campaign (~3-4k visitors per day) of targeted bulk European and North American traffic is feeding the site each day as well. Usually this type of traffic does not convert very highly, but I have had some success with such campaigns in the past, so I thought it was worth a try to get some visibility for GHQ.

I have also submitted GHQ to many of the most important web directories (such as dmoz.org, Yahoo, etc.). These listings help tremendously in search rankings and traffic, but can sometimes take weeks to be approved and listed.

Nevertheless, I am already seeing a good amount of natural traffic from search engines. GHQ was designed from the beginning with SEO best practices in mind, so hopefully we will gain nice search engine rankings over time, which of course will further help the site grow.

I have high hopes for GamersHQ, and will continue with these and other promotions over the coming weeks and months. Check back on this blog for updates on the results of those efforts.
