Right. That is what I'm reading. The orig devs sold the IP to the game so it could be developed by another company as a MMO.

having not played a RPG in a long time I bought this with much trepidation on the recomendation of a friend. I fucking loved it, the system to select body parts to shoot at is genius, there is something hugely gratifying when you hit a grinning raider in the head and you watch the head fly off all the while still grinning.

Having said that, the ending pissed me off immensely, so so dissapointed. Not being able to go back was very frustrating. Yes, you haved made clean come to the wasteland and done some good/bad things a long the way but there are still bad guys out there, side quests to be done. I can only hope that fallout 4 will continue you where this episode left off.

These mods sound a bit of fun. What do you guys think are the best?

The Pitt Mod:

"Freedom! FREEDOM! I have a dream!"

I've just run through "The Pitt" mod which, as you might guess, takes place in Pittsburg. The object is to free slaves who are pressed into hard labour in a steel mill by an opportunistic Raider and his band of thugs. Several quests and one or two side quests here. There's a new mob to kill (Torg) and several unique weapons and armour to loot.

Be warned, however, that everything that you bring in with you (from the Wasteland) will be taken from you once you enter(except for Quest items and keys on your keyring). Part of your quest will be to retrieve your items at the end but I was unable to due to one of the choices I made during this mod. So, I strongly suggest that you bring nothing with you when you enter Pitt. You will loot or be given weapons and armour early on so you don't really need anything anyway. There is a garbage bin before Pitt Bridge and you can safely store your items there and retrieve them when you finish the Quest and leave Pitt.

Here's the torrent link:

Arena House and Item Sorter Mod:

"See what life was like before the bombs fell!"

This mod introduces a new location, Residence (NE of the DC Ruins). This mod is s-o-o-o cool in that you get a new place to store your stuff. It's a house that's been untouched by the war--pristine, if you will. Once inside, you'll have your own Medical clinic where you can heal everything (except Addictions), you have a spanking new Refrigerator, NukaCola machine, cool NukaCola additions, a science bench where you can create Rad-ex, StimPaks, etc. Best of all is the Workbench that has an item sorter so that you can stockpile ALL the items needed to create the weapons from the Blueprints you loot/buy.

As well, in another room, there is a safe in the floor and a locked door which leads to the Arena. What this is, I don't know yet, as I suspect the key for the Arena door is in the safe and you must be Level 100 in Lockpicking and, sadly, I am only at 90(...but, with some mentats and boosts from Apparell, I should be able to open it up. Stay tuned, I'll let you know what happens...).

The Cure Mod:

Do your part to help our beloved Wasteland return to it's glory days!"

This simple mod places a dart gun in your inventory with 100 "Mutagenic" darts as ammo. The object here is to cure as many ghouls as possible. I guess the idea is to boost your XP with each successful cure.

Note: The darts will not cure friendly Ghouls so don't bother shooting any friendlies.

This one's just for fun, I imagine.

Happy trails, vault-babies

I'm split about the game. It looks stunning, it has good storylines and the modability is great. But on the other hand, the characters seem lifeless (this seems to be beth's trademark ), the game doesn't have the right atmosphere
for a fallout game and everything seems to have been waterd down to make it suitable for a younger audience.

In my opinion Bethesda would have been better off keeping the money and releasing the game under a diffrent name, because although it's a good game by itself, it's not worthy of being a fallout game.

I read somwere in this forum that they are going to launch a MMORPG based on the game.
True, Interplay had a clause in their contract when they sold the IP rights for Fallout. Allowing Interplay to develop Fallout Online (or FOOL as it's known). Interplay has anounced that it will work with Masthead studio's to develop it's game (Probably due to the fact that Interplay needs a quick successful release to keep the company afloat).

As Knuckles said one of the Developers left the company a few weeks ago. That was Jason Anderson (who worked on Fallout 1). Hopefully it won't impact on the game too much as Chris Taylor is still the lead developer and he managed to make Fallout 2 without Anderson.

This is exactly the opinion of a friend that played Fallout2 and uninstalled the game after few hours of playing. The mature content is gone in order to have a lower age rating and sell more copies.
The drug references are gone, same as the adult references. They`ve made it into the "clean cut" type of mmo. Let`s hope the real Fallout3 in development atm by Interplay will deliver a better experience.

In Fallout 3, these things have been reinstated. The drugs are back, hookers are scattered here and there, and the language can be a bit foul. The graphics are nice and I enjoy the "open" feel to the game. Chalk that one up to the sandbox game play, I suppose.

Just a bit of trivia here. For those that have played, we know that the voices of Liam Neeson and Malcolm McDowell are prevalent throughout the game. Well, if you play the "Pitt" mod, you may also recognize the voice of "Moe the bartender" of "The Simpsons" fame who voices several (many, actually) of the "badass" Pitt Raider characters. Just a bit of fun, here.

I think he meant that his friend uninstalled Fallout 3, In Fallout 2 if the character was female you could star in porn films and prostitute yourself. There was also a number of Jet(Meth)addicts walking around and a couple of quests centering around Myron.

Oh and another thing i forgot, what the hells up with the magical stat altering clothes?
