Syberia I & II

Syberia is a 2002 computer adventure game conceived by Benoît Sokal, developed by Microïds and published through The Adventure Company. It follows the protagonist Kate Walker as she attempts to wrap up a sale on the behalf of her law firm. In addition to the main plot, the game contains a dramatic subplot, conducted via calls received on Kate's cell phone, involving Kate's deteriorating relationship with her fiancé.

The game uses elements of art nouveau and steampunk fiction in its story. Most devices and tools, and even a train, are powered by springs and wind-up gears. Syberia was acclaimed by critics for its graphic design and intelligent script, and a sequel, Syberia II, was released in 2004, picking up where the first game leaves off.

here are some pictures of Syberia I

Try not to use the walkthroughs! This is an awesome game! I played both I and II with no cheats.

I usually don't play games like this for the PC - but I was at the game store bored so I picked up I.

A story revolving around the "automatons" and solving an archeological mystery/missing person, this game has very well done character development, puzzle-solving, music, art, fascinating locations and a story that keeps you playing from beginning to very satisfying end (Part II)... this game has it all! I loved it!

I was super impatient waiting for II to come out! I can't believe I had forgotten this game -- remembering it now, it's like I just finished playing it.

+Rep for OP!

Oh, those two are my favourite adventures of all time, both with amazing graphics and a brilliant story.

And yes, avoid using walkthroughs by all means, you'll spoil all the fun and will regret it very much later. This game really worth time to live it through by yourself.

In 2009 Microïds announced that Syberia 3 would be released on PC, and possibly Playstation 3, in June 2010.

Yes walkthroughs spoil 90% of the good old "feeling of achievement", when you actually think yourself how to dismantle the puzzle...

Syberia 1&2 both have awesome puzzles btw.

yeah, under extreme conditions, using walkthrough is better than leaving the game dusting to your desktop forever, which can happen after overwhelming attack of frustration...
